Ros Badger’s career as a knitwear designer started over 25 years ago when she finished her textile degree at Chelsea School of art. Having been taught to crochet by her grandmother at the age of eight, Ros has made things all her life, customising clothes, restoring old furniture, growing food and flowers and cooking everything from bread to vegetarian feasts.

Ros has designed for numerous companies from Betty Jackson to Marks and Spencer. Her eclectic style is evident whether in the Motorbike imagery for Johnson’s ‘La Rocka‘ or in her fine lace dresses for Flyte Ostell. She has made bespoke hats for U2’s The Edge, did a stint as knitting expert on Channel 4’s Big Breakfast programme and has made hand knits for film crews, most notably ‘The Commitments’. Before launching Little Badger in 1995, Ros’ own label collection sold worldwide.

Since 2000, Ros has written a number of successful knitting and craft books from Homemade; Gorgeous things to make with love, co-authored with her close friend Elspeth Thompson (1962-2010) to Hook Yarn and Crochet(Quadrille Publishing) and Simple Knitting (Mitchell Beazley) both published in Autumn 2013 and this has resulted in a monthly making/craft page starting in Saga Magazine from January 2014.

In recent years, as well as working as an occasional stylist for magazines and newspapers, including the Telegraph and The Sunday Times, Ros has taught sewing masterclasses at a Chateau in SW France and at Sophie Conran’s Temple Guiting project.

Her passion for up-cycling has resulted in occasional pop up shops under the ‘Its Loveliness Increases’ banner where Ros passes on treasures found when scouring antique markets and sale rooms across the UK and France.

In Autumn 2013 Ros re-launched Little Badger and would like to thank everyone for their help from her knitters in Peru to the web host and a special thank you to Ben Derbyshire for his brilliant photography, Hugo Guiness for designing the logo, Susan Hare at Prussian Blue for the gorgeous website and all the children who have modelled - Billy, Ceidra, Ezra, Iris, Luke, Martha, Xavier and Zoe.
